Public/Legislative Affairs
The MCUA Public/Legislative Affairs department provides legislative and communications support for member credit unions. Our responsibilities include:- Lobby state and national lawmakers
- Help draft state and federal credit union legislation
- Monitor bills and gauge their impact on credit unions and members
- Develop MCUA communications and marketing
- Write Missouri Courier, CourierNet, Legislative Updates and other MCUA publications
- Assist with credit union media needs
- Promote credit union events and issues
- Organize and track CUPAC/CULAC fundraising
- Coordinate awards programs
MCUA Wins Bronze Quill Awards
MCUA Public/Legislative Affairs received two Bronze Quill Awards in 2008 from the International Association of Business Communicators’ (IABC) St. Louis Chapter. MCUA won the highest level of achievement, an Award of Excellence, in the Issues Management and Crisis Communication category for the 2007 “Save Missouri Credit Unions!” Campaign. Missouri Courier magazine received an Award of Merit (second place) in the Publications category.
