Amy McLard serves as senior vice president of Advocacy for the Missouri Credit Union Association (MCUA). Amy is responsible for the overall advocacy efforts for MCUA, including lobbying, legislative fundraising, grassroots and strategic advocacy planning on both the state and federal level.
Amy joined MCUA in 2001 and is credited with developing the “No Hats, No Hoods, No Sunglasses” robbery prevention program. Amy enjoys advocating on behalf of Missouri credit unions and sharing the stories that set credit unions apart from other financial institutions. She became a Credit Union Development Educator (CUDE) in 2011.
In her previous career, Amy was an award-winning television news reporter, anchor and producer. She has worked for NBC, CBS and ABC affiliates in Missouri and Nebraska.
Amy has a Bachelor’s of Journalism in broadcast news and a Bachelor’s of Arts in political science from the University of Missouri-Columbia. As a student, she covered the floods of 1993 and 1995 and was part of the television news team that received the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award. Amy also lobbied on the state and federal level as a Board Director for the Associated Students of the University of Missouri, the lobbying group representing students on all four campuses of the University of Missouri system.
