RE: Meeting & Fundraiser for Congressman William Lacy
You are invited to a meeting and fundraising event for Congressman William Lacy Clay (D-District 1). The Missouri Credit Union Association just finalized details for the event, which takes place at St. Louis Community Credit Union’s CU Excel Center on October 11.
With the approval of the Governmental Affairs Committee and Board of Directors, the Missouri Credit Union Association is endorsing Congressman Clay as a Credit Union Champion. The event will serve as the official announcement of this designation, which recognizes candidates who champion credit union issues and take action on behalf of credit union members and credit unions. The meeting will provide opportunities to recognize Congressman Clay as a Credit Union Champion, talk about issues facing credit unions and to contribute to Congressman Clay’s re-election campaign.
Congressman Clay is a long-standing credit union supporter. He supports the credit union tax status, as well as legislation that would raise the credit union small business lending cap and allow more loan opportunities for small business owners. He is a cosponsor of H.R. 1418, the Small Business Lending Enhancement Act, which would raise the credit union small business lending cap from 12.25% to 27.5% of credit union assets. Congressman Clay is also a cosponsor of H.R. 3993, which would allow credit unions access to supplemental capital.
There are more than 225,976 credit union member-owners in District 1. As a credit union with members in this district, you and members of your management team are encouraged to attend this event and make an individual donation for Congressman Lacy Clay. If you are unable to attend yourself, please consider sending volunteers or staff members to represent your credit union.
