Anheuser-Busch Employees’ Credit Union (St. Louis) and American Eagle Credit Union (St. Louis) raised $3,000 for three local food pantries within the St. Louis community. Over the past month, employees donated by buying raffle tickets for the chance to shave the head of VPs, who volunteered to give their locks to a great cause, and a chance to win a paid day off, among others. Employees raised $1,500 with their fundraising efforts, and the credit union matched an additional $1,500.
“We like to give back to our community, and find it especially important over the holiday season,” states Dan Vogler, head shaving volunteer participant and executive vice president of Administration. “The raffles and contests give us a way to have fun, and support a great cause that is important to our employees.”
The donations went to three food pantry recipients, the Ozark Food Pantry in Festus, St. Agatha Food Pantry in Soulard, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help in north St. Louis. Each food pantry received $1,000 to fill their pantries for the Thanksgiving Holiday. “The highlight of the recent fundraising events was watching our VPs get their head shaved! It isn’t something you see every day!” states Carolyn Allgeyer, Benefits Specialist and coordinator of the fundraising efforts.
