When the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF) activated its online disaster relief system, CUAid.coop, to raise money for credit union people along the East Coast affected by Hurricane Sandy, Vantage Credit Union wanted to help.
The credit union held a dress-down day to raise funds for those affected. In addition, collection jars were out in the branches, and a link was added to their website so members could contribute, too. Credit union employees and members raised $748. The credit union matched that amount, and a check was sent for $1,496.
The NCUF is coordinating with the New Jersey Credit Union League and the Credit Union Association of New York to distribute money efficiently to affected credit union employees and members. All donations (100%) collected through CUAid go to credit union disaster relief.
