On Friday, February 1, 2013, Central Missouri Community Credit Union (CMCCU) (Warrensburg, MO) employees presented a check to Nathan’s Quest Childhood Cancer Fund (NQCCF) for $4,500. NQCCF is a non-profit organization that provides financial assistance to families of children with life-threatening diseases.
CMCCU employees raised money by collecting money in the lobby, matching $1 per like on Facebook, participating in a “Dress Down Spirit Week,” sponsoring a “Soup and Chili Benefit Supper and Auction,” and a raffle. During “Dress Down Spirit Week” employees paid to participate in themed dress down days, such as Decade Day and Crazy for a Cause Day. CMCCU employee, Kristen McCabe said, “Crazy for a Cause (Day) was so much fun. Everyone came into work with crazy hair, crazy mix-matched clothes, crazy socks, and crazy makeup. They should’ve renamed the day, ‘Just look like a Hot Mess!’”
The “Soup and Chili Benefit Supper and Auction” raised the most money for NQCCF bringing in almost $3,700 that evening. CMCCU employee and Benefit Chair Joy Lakey said, “We love working with this charity. Their board is actively involved in fundraising and committed to helping children in Johnson County. Not only do we want to raise money, but we want to raise awareness for this wonderful cause.”
