Congratulations to Renee Richter and Kaitlyn Stacye, both of Springfield, for receiving Community Financial Credit Union's 2013 Linzee W. Leonard Scholarships! Each student received a $1,000 scholarship.
Both recipients were selected from among several highly qualified applicants who were judged in the following categories: grade point average, honors and awards, community activities, extracurricular activities, personal goals/attitudes and an essay about the differences in credit unions from other financial institutions.
Richter is a sophomore at Saint Louis University. She is studying to become a pediatrician and hopes to work for Doctors Without Borders. Her plans are to study abroad in South Africa in the fall of 2013.
Stacye will graduate in May 2013, from Central High School with plans to attend Missouri State University. She will be the first person in her family to attend college.
Each scholarship recipient has been involved in numerous school and community activities throughout the past four years, exemplifying Community Financial’s motto of “People Helping People.” Since beginning the scholarship program, Community Financial has awarded over $33,000 to our aspiring young members.
The Linzee W. Leonard Scholarship was established in memoriam of Linzee W. Leonard, a cherished employee of Community Financial Credit Union who passed away in 1996.
