Alan Schwartz is an attorney with the firm of Kusnetzky, Schwartz, Rosenfeld, Sailler & Lilla, P.C. located in Kansas City, Mo. This firm represents the Missouri Credit Union Association (MCUA), Missouri Corporate Credit Union (MCCU), and credit unions located throughout the state. Alan is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. He is admitted to the state bars of Missouri and Kansas, United States District Courts for the Western District of Missouri and the District of Kansas, and the United States Supreme Court. Alan is a member of the American Bar Association (including the Business Law Section and the Credit Union Law Committee). Alan practices primarily in the area of credit union law, including state and federal compliance.
John Thomas joined MCUA in 2012 as the vice president of Compliance and Advocacy. In this capacity, he manages the delivery of regulatory compliance services to credit unions, provides analysis of proposed legislation and regulations and ensures that all corporate, legal needs are met. Prior to his current work with MCUA, John worked for more than 16 years as a banking officer, bank examiner and compliance officer. His first job after graduating from college was working at the Missouri Corporate Central Credit Union from 1983-1985. John is a member of the Missouri Bar. He has an MBA in finance from Washington University and a JD from St. Louis University.
Christy Curtis Jones is an attorney and partner with Sherpy & Jones, P.A.—a firm that specializes in servicing credit unions’ needs. Ms. Jones graduated with honors from the College of Charleston, earning a B.A. in History, and received her J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law. She was an associate articles editor for the South Carolina Law Review and a member of the Order of the Wig & Robe. Ms. Jones currently concentrates her practice in the areas of creditor/debtor rights, bankruptcy, collections, foreclosure and regulatory compliance. She is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association and South Carolina Bankruptcy Law Association. She is admitted to practice before the South Carolina Federal Court, District of South Carolina. She serves as the 11th Judicial Circuit’s Representative to the South Carolina Bar’s Young Lawyers Division and has been appointed to the Bar’s Committee on Professional Potential. Ms. Jones is a regular speaker at multiple Credit Union Leagues, including South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Ohio, Iowa, Utah, and Wisconsin. She has served as an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina School of Law, teaching legal writing to first year students.
