This past June, Howard Hoemann, volunteer director of the board of Electro Savings Credit Union (Maryland Heights, Mo.), made a trip to Ecuador to reunite with his Peace Corps group.
While there, he met with Col. Ing. Jaime F. Duenas P, president of Ecuador’s National Federation of Credit Unions. Duenas P is also the president of the National Army Credit Union, which is headquartered in Quito, Ecuador. Hoemann presented the distinguished Ecuadorian representative with a backpack with the Missouri Credit Union Association (MCUA) logo.
Hoemann’s journey to Ecuador celebrated the 45th anniversary of his Peace Corps group. His life-long credit union advocacy began while he was in the Peace Corps. As a volunteer, he assisted in the early development of credit unions in South America, in collaboration with the National Federation of Credit Unions and the Credit Union National Association.
