11th Annual Pheasant Fall Classic Benefits CUPAC
Participants of the 11th Annual Pheasant Fall Classic enjoyed great weather while raising funds for the Credit Union Political Action Committee (CUPAC)*. More than 25 credit union representatives and supporters met at String Creek in Centertown, Missouri on October 17 for the fundraiser.
Attendees enjoyed barbecued hot dogs and chili for lunch, a clay bird shooting contest, and a money-bird giveaway. Tim Loveless, regional vice president of sales for the Missouri Credit Union Association, won the clay bird shooting contest. River Region Credit Union board member Scott Thieret won the money-bird contest.
“This is always a great event and this year definitely didn’t disappoint,” says Don Cohenour, president/CEO for the Missouri Credit Union Association. “The weather was beautiful and the birds were active and cooperative. Every hunter had an opportunity to shoot, which really is all you can ask for at an event like this.”
River Region Credit Union served as the main Pheasant Fall Classic sponsor while CUNA Mutual Group provided lunch. Ten other credit unions and organizations sponsored shooting stations, and are listed below.
The following credit unions took part:
- Anheuser-Busch Employees’ Credit Union (St. Louis)
- City Credit Union (Independence)
- Missouri Credit Union (Columbia)
- River Region Credit Union (Jefferson City)
- United Labor Credit Union (Kansas City)
- Vantage Credit Union (Bridgeton)

CUPAC is the state Political Action Committee and provides campaign contributions to credit union supporters in state-level elections here in Missouri (such as governor and state representative). CULAC is the federal PAC for the Credit Union National Association (CUNA), and fulfills its mission by contributing to and supporting federal candidates and committees that support the credit union movement.
The Missouri Credit Union Association has a goal of raising $40,229 for CULAC in 2013. As of October 2013, MCUA is 70% from reaching this goal. Contributions to CUPAC are also appreciated.
