Anheuser‐Busch Employees’ Credit Union (ABECU) and its community division, American Eagle Credit Union (AECU) awarded a total of nine scholarships this April for its 20th annual Young Adult Financial Youth Group – Vince Jacknewitz $1,500 Scholarship Program. Six scholarships were awarded to members: Jordan Banks of St. Louis; Claire Fiorenzi of The Woodlands, Texas; Carly Kleinheider of Chesterfield; Angela Pereira of St. Louis; Erin Reynolds of Acworth, Ga.; and Jacob Trueb of Worden, Ill.
Additionally, three scholarships were awarded for the Employees’ Family Member Scholarship Program. These were awarded to: Imani Barnhill of Cahokia, Ill.; Jennifer Brockes of St. Louis; and Riley Helmkamp of Glen Carbon, Ill. Barnhill is the daughter of Luvinnie Pomerlee, loan audit team leader. Brockes is a credit union CO‐OP employee. Helmkamp is the granddaughter of Cindy Helmkamp, business development manager.
“As a key component of our mission, providing scholarships to young people allows our credit union to enrich the communities we serve,” says Pier Alsup, SVP of Marketing. “In addition, our hopes are by providing educational support today will result in a well-educated workforce in the future.”
The credit union also awarded ten $75 “Deck Your Dorm” mini-scholarships to deserving applicants in celebration of the credit union’s 75th anniversary.
The credit union’s scholarship program is named after its late board member Vince Jacknewitz. Scholarships are awarded based on a three-page essay with consideration given to scholastic standing and special activities. The credit union has awarded more than $126,000 in scholarships to members nationwide.
