Community Financial Credit Union (Springfield) congratulates Madison Jones and Michael Irwin, both of Springfield, as the recipients of the 2014 Linzee W. Leonard Scholarships. Each recipient will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
Both students were selected from many highly qualified applicants who were judged in the following categories: grade point average, honors and awards, community activities, extracurricular activities, personal goals/attitudes and an essay about what Community Financial can do to attract and engage members, ages 18-30.
Madison is a senior at Gloria Deo Academy. She will attend Missouri State University this fall. She plans to enter the medical field as a specialist in reproductive endocrinology.
Michael is a senior at Glendale High School with plans to attend Ozarks Technical Community College. He wants to obtain a masters degree in accounting and become a CPA.
Each scholarship recipient has been involved in numerous school and community activities throughout the past four years, exemplifying Community Financial’s motto of “People Helping People.” Since beginning the scholarship program, Community Financial has awarded more than $35,000 to aspiring young members.
The Linzee W. Leonard Scholarship was established in memoriam of Linzee W. Leonard, a cherished employee of Community Financial Credit Union who passed away in 1996.
