Arsenal Credit Union (Arnold) officials christened their new Swansea branch at 4384 N. Illinois Street with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house event on Saturday, April 26, 2014. The new location, Arsenal’s first in Illinois, is the former home of Southern Illinois Area Credit Union, which merged with Arsenal on January 1, 2014.
Officials cut a special money ribbon that represented a $500 donation to the Swansea Food Pantry. Among those participating in the ceremony was Swansea Mayor Ken Mueller.
The open house event featured prize drawings every half hour, with a 40-inch TV being the grand prize. Giveaway items included mouse pads, key chains and USB car chargers. Attendees enjoyed special offers when they opened new accounts, added relationships or refinanced loans from other lenders. Additionally, two food trucks served a variety of free sandwiches and cupcakes throughout the day. The open house also included kid-friendly activities like face painting and special appearances by Tracker, Arsenal’s popular kids club mascot (a costumed basset hound).
Arsenal’s branch in Swansea offers extended business hours Monday through Saturday. It features a drive-up in the rear of the building, plus a drive-up CO-OP Network ATM on the side. Members of other credit unions that participate in the same shared branch network as Arsenal are able to use the Swansea location to access those other accounts at no cost to them.
