Use Social Media to Contact Lawmakers During Hike the Hill June 17 - 19

Credit union leaders from around the state of Missouri will Hike the Hill in Washington D.C. next week, June 17-19. Hike the Hill is an opportunity to share credit union concerns and issues with federal lawmakers and their staff.

If you aren’t headed to Washington, D.C. for this year’s Hike the Hill, you can make your voice heard from home. For example, you can post “Unite for Good” stories and member testimonials from your credit union’s Facebook and Twitter. Please tag your members’ lawmakers in these social media updates, as this ensures that the posts show up on their Facebook timelines and/or Twitter feeds.

Click here for a cheat sheet listing social media usernames for Missouri’s federal lawmakers. Use the hashtag #MOHiketheHill in any posts or tweets.

Please use your best judgment when composing updates for lawmakers. Use respectful language at all times, and consider sharing just one update with each lawmaker a day.

To send a direct email, use the Don’t Tax My Credit Union website. Please take time to personalize your communications. Taking the few extra minutes to tell your credit union's story makes your message that much more memorable for lawmakers and their staff. Also, mention that Missouri representatives are in Washington, D.C. to discuss credit union concerns June 17-19, and you look forward to hearing about their meetings with lawmakers.
