United Credit Union (Mexico) values adult financial education, and they are dedicated to sharing this knowledge with the community. Recently, AZZ Central Electric (Fulton) requested United come to their location to provide financial classes to their employees. On June 12, United held their first presentation on the topic, “How to Buy a Car and Not Pay Too Much."
"We believe that, when educating our members and potential members, it is important to meet them where they are," says Arica Alton, United's Marketing specialist. "Since we have a large number of members that work non-standard shifts, we try to work with their schedule to bring finance classes to them. We come to their place of employment and give them the resources they need to make sound financial decisions.”
Dale McIntosh, United's Indirect Lending officer, was able to give useful information on the tactics and strategies that car dealerships use. He has worked in the car dealing industry for more than 10 years. He explained how to get the top dollar for trade-ins and how to get a fair price for new and used cars.
During the training, Dale walked the class through a car buying scenario so that they know how to respond when they purchase a vehicle. United gave presentations for AZZ's first and second shift.
