United Credit Union (Mexico) works year-round to raise funds for the Audrain County Relay for Life. Since last year, they have hosted a tractor pull, participated in dress down days/weeks, sold candy and other activities.
“It has now been more than 12 years since United Credit Union first got involved with Relay for Life. It all started with one of our own employees getting cancer, fighting it and surviving," says Arica Alton, Marketing specialist at United Credit Union.
United employees participated in the Audrain County Relay for Life “Pirates of the Cure-a-Being” event on June 29-30, and they enjoyed dressing the part. This year, out of the twenty teams that participated, United was chosen to receive the “Heart of the Relay” award. This was a huge honor!
United has raised approximately $12,000 to support the Relay for Life. It took the entire staff pulling together throughout the year to make their team a success.
"It is important for us to be involved, not only for our employees, but to show our support to the community," says Alton. "With two employees currently battling cancer, it is a cause and a cure that we continue to fight for.”
