Call to Action Plan: Countdown to MBL Vote

A vote on the member business lending bill, S. 2231, is expected soon by the U.S. Senate and credit union leaders are asked to take part in a comprehensive call to action effort in support of member business lending.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has pledged a vote on the member business lending bill, which would raise the credit union member business lending limit from 12.25% to 27.5% of assets.  In order to expedite the process, the Senate bill was reintroduced as S. 2231, the Credit Union Small Business Jobs Bill.   A vote could take place in less than three weeks. The U.S. Senate is in recess until April 16.

All MBL efforts re-set now.  Grassroots efforts with credit union members are key, including the small business owners who are impacted the most.  Make sure U.S. Senators understand that this is about helping small businesses, growing jobs and providing more consumer options.  Make sure they hear from credit unions to counter banker attacks against the measure.

The vote on S. 2231 will be the first time a credit union stand-alone bill will be on the U.S. Senate floor since 1998.

The call to action starts on Monday, April 2.
