This week, the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) is submitting a statement for the record to the House Financial Services Committee. The title of the hearing will be “Mortgage Disclosures: How Do We Cut Red Tape for Consumers and Small Businesses?” and has been set for 1:30 p.m. on June 20.
The Subcommittee on Insurance, Housing and Community Opportunity will focus on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s (CFPB) work on its “Know Before You Owe” initiative relating to the combined RESPA/TILA disclosures which was mandated by the Dodd-Frank Act. CUNA has been actively attending briefings on Capitol Hill held by numerous Members of Congress in recent weeks, and also continues to actively discuss with key CFPB policy makers concerning the agency’s mortgage rulemaking and other regulatory priorities.
