Ozarks Credit Unions Raise $31,800 for CMN

Ozarks Credit Unions, a network of credit unions across southwest Missouri, raised $31,836 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals of CoxHealth at the 16th Annual Credit Unions’ Golfing For Kids Benefit Golf Tournament, held on September 7, 2012, at Rivercut Golf Course.

Representatives from ten credit unions organized the event this year, including America’s Credit Union, Assemblies of God Credit Union, BluCurrent Credit Union, Community Financial Credit Union, CU Community Credit Union, Educational Community Credit Union, Metro Credit Union, Mid Missouri Credit Union, Springfield Catholic Credit Union and TelComm Credit Union.

135 golfers participated in the scramble. Federal Protection, Federal Construction and Route 66 Extended Warranty were presenting sponsors.

“We could not have asked for a better turn out or a better day for golf,” said Justin Bess, assistant executive director, Children's Miracle Network Hospitals CoxHealth. “Without the longstanding commitment of the credit unions much of what we do at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals would not be possible. All of us here at Children’s Miracle Network value and appreciate the long-time partnership we have had with the credit unions and the support of our community for making what we do possible.”

Earlier this year, the credit unions were awarded a “Miracle Match” from CO-OP Financial Services. This match program, which is only available to credit unions raising funds for CMN, provided an extra $10,000 to donate to the CMN Hospitals.

“Springfield area credit unions embrace our cooperative roots by joining forces for this golf tournament working year round planning and preparing for the event,” said Lori Johnson, vice president marketing and business development for TelComm Credit Union. “It is wonderful to have the support of our vendors, colleagues, volunteers and credit union members to help children in the southwest Missouri region battling health issues.”

CMN Hospitals uses the funds raised at the tournament to assist local sick and injured children who need medical care. The Springfield-area credit unions have raised more than $600,000 over 16 years for CMN Hospitals.
