Cleaver Discusses Credit Union Concerns
Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II (D-District 5) met with credit union leaders in Kansas City for an in-district meeting on October 9. The group discussed member business lending, credit union tax status and regulatory burdens facing financial institutions with Congressman Cleaver, who serves on the House Financial Services Committee.
Members of Congress are currently on recess and will return to Washington, D.C. on November 13, following the elections. U.S. Senate leadership has expressed a commitment to bringing the credit union member business lending legislation to the floor for a vote when they return for the so-called “lame duck” session. During the meeting, Congressman Clay shared concerns that the lame duck session will not be very productive due to the many issues facing Congress and a limited time to address them.
