CUSB Helps in Times of Disaster
If a natural disaster rolled through Missouri, would you be able to serve your members? Credit unions in the Shared Branch Network would. Here's an article that published in Net Brief, a publication of CO-OP Shared Branching on October 31. It details how CO-OP Financial Services allows impacted credit unions to remain up and running amid natural disasters like Hurricane Sandy that struck the east coast this week.

CO-OP Ready to Help in Time of Disaster
Hurricane Sandy has dramatically reminded us of the power of nature and that natural disasters can come upon us with amazing speed. It has been a source of encouragement for many to see how Americans in the impacted areas have come together as communities to help each other.
CO-OP Financial Services has been proactively contacting clients in the impacted areas to assess needs and determine where we can help, and have found that Hurricane Sandy has once again enabled the credit union movement to demonstrate its core values of people helping people and cooperation between institutions.
We remind you that CO-OP Financial Services provides the services that allow you to remain up and running for your clients when disaster strikes. While some credit unions may need to close down their office and members may need to leave the area, credit unions can still be there for their members 24/7 with CO-OP Shared Branching, CO-OP Member Center and CO-OP Network, among other services.
It will no doubt be several days or longer before normal operations for credit unions resume in impacted areas. CO-OP urges credit unions to remind members of the access and convenience services you may offer them as a CO-OP client:
- Send alerts to your members reminding them of your call center 800 number, as well as the locator information for CO-OP Shared Branching (www.cuservicecenter.com) and CO-OP Network (www.co-opnetwork.org);
- Credit unions participating in the Credit Union Service Centers Call Center should make members aware of the toll-free number, 1-888-837-6500, where they can speak to a CO-OP Member Center agent to perform a same account transfer, balance inquiry and a transaction history look-up;
- Make the links to these services more prominent on your Web site; and
- Update your telephone answer message with this information.
Please do not hesitate to contact our Network Services Department at 866-812-2872, option 2 or firstname.lastname@example.org if we can help you at this difficult time.
