U.S. Representative-Elect Ann Wagner (R-District 2) will serve on the U.S. House Financial Services Committee. House leadership announced Wagner’s appointment on December 3.
“I am honored that House leadership has the confidence to grant me a committee assignment on the House Committee on Financial Services,” said Representative-Elect Wagner. “This is a critical time to serve on this Committee with legislation like Dodd-Frank, Wall Street Reform and the Consumer Protection Act needing further evaluation before they do greater damage to our already fragile economy.”
“This is an important committee for the St. Louis region as well with over 84,000 people in the area working in the financial services industry with a total payroll of around $4.57 billion,” continued Wagner. “I look forward to serving the region on this important Committee and appreciate House leadership’s trust in my abilities.”
The Missouri Credit Union Association named Wagner a Credit Union Champion in August. Wagner will be sworn in as a U.S. Representative on January 3, 2013.
“Missouri credit unions supported Representative-Elect Wagner during her campaign because of her strong understanding of small business needs and how credit unions provide essential financial services to Missourians,” said Missouri Credit Union Association interim President/CEO Don Cohenour. “We look forward to working with her as she heads to Congress and serves on this committee.”
The House Financial Services Committee is the primary committee for credit union issues of interest.
