Horizon Credit Union (Macon) is helping five high school students go to college with its scholarship program. The credit union announced the five scholarship winners from four separate school districts during its 59th annual meeting on March 14.
This marks the 15th year that the credit union has distributed scholarships. Each student received a $500 scholarship to use towards their college expenses. The winners were picked based on the following essay topic: “Describe What Membership in the Horizon Credit Union Means to Me.” Students' GPA, ACT scores and a required letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor were also considered in the scholarship recipient selection. Essays were graded by Missouri Credit Union Association (MCUA) Field Representative Kevin Shaw.
