With a special election on June 4 quickly approaching, credit union representatives serving members in Missouri’s Congressional District 8 recently met with candidates Jason Smith (R) and Steve Hodges (D). The two candidates are vying for the U.S. House seat vacated by U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson (R).
Volunteer and staff members from Rolla Federal Credit Union, Anheuser-Busch Employees’ Credit Union (St. Louis), Poplar Bluff Federal Credit Union and Missouri Credit Union Association met with Jason Smith at Rolla Federal Credit Union on April 12
Steve Hodges met with representatives from Anheuser-Busch Employees’ Credit Union, Poplar Bluff Federal Credit Union and Missouri Credit Union Association during the Missouri Credit Union Association Annual Advocacy and Business Meeting on April 16.
During the meetings, both Smith and Hodges shared their priorities for serving in Congress and discussed credit union issues and concerns – including regulatory relief, member business lending and the credit union tax status.
Smith currently serves as Speaker Pro Tem in the Missouri House of Representatives and serves in District 120. He is from Salem and works as an attorney, real estate agent and small business owner. Hodges is a State Representative serving District 149. He is from East Prairie and owned and managed a grocery store for 30 years before running for his current office in 2006.
