At a point when tax reform and regulatory relief are being discussed in Congress, the Missouri Credit Union Association (MCUA) is preparing for a Hike the Hill in May. Credit union leaders from Missouri will head to Washington, D.C. to talk with U.S. Senators and Representatives on May 22-23. Sharing the value of credit unions and preserving the credit union tax status is a top priority during the visits.
MCUA staff members are currently setting appointments with lawmakers and staff in every Missouri office, except for vacant Congressional District 8. Representatives from Vantage Credit Union (Bridgeton) and CommunityAmerica Credit Union (Kansas City) will join MCUA staff to discuss issues. In addition to the credit union tax status, topics will include the member business lending cap, enhanced supplemental capital access and regulatory relief legislation.
There are several other Hike the Hills scheduled in May, including visits by credit union representatives of North Carolina, South Carolina, Washington and Oregon.
