Neighbors Credit Union awarded four $1,200 scholarships to My.Bux members during the Annual Meeting held on May 22, 2013 at the Royal Orleans Banquet Center.
Neighbors Credit Union (St. Louis, Mo.) annually awards scholarships in honor of Clarence L. Hagemann, previous chairman of the board. He gave 44 years of volunteer service. Including the four newest winners, Neighbors has awarded a total of $55,100 in scholarships over the past 22 years. This contest was open to all My.Bux club members who are attending college in the autumn of 2013.
My.Bux consists of Neighbors Credit Union members between the ages of 13 and 19. Each scholarship recipient received $1,200 to be used for higher education expenses.
The winners of this year’s scholarship contest are Jacob Lynch, of Fort Zumwalt South High School; Thomas Ratliff, of Lindbergh High School; Jordan Richardson, of McKinley Classical Leadership Academy; and Paul Watkins II, of Crossroads College Preparatory School.
This year, applicants were asked, “What do you think is the best way to reach 17 to 25 year olds? What kind of marketing would you use? How would you get their attention and what would your message be to attract them to join?” Along with the three-page essay, applicants were also asked to submit a list of their extracurricular activities and academic achievements.
Neighbors Credit Union is dedicated to providing young members with opportunities to help continue their education.
