It’s nearly time to celebrate credit unions in Missouri, nationwide—and even worldwide. On October 17, 2013, credit unions in 100 countries will celebrate International Credit Union (ICU) Day® and share the cooperative message with their communities.
This year’s theme is “Credit Unions Unite For Good.” Credit unions around the globe are encouraged to share the “people helping people” philosophy with members and nonmembers alike. After all, this is the belief that all credit unions are founded on.
Whether on a small or large scale, credit unions take doing good seriously. What does that mean? It means no good deed is too small—be it in the form of scholarships or interest-free loans, it’s still about people helping people.
The credit union movement is a united force based in camaraderie, cooperation and collaboration. That’s why, at a credit union, your members are never numbers.
To commemorate the day, share a good deed or member testimonials on your credit union’s Facebook page. Or perhaps you’re giving out cookies or other goodies that day. Snap a picture and share it via your social media channels.

October 17 falls during the Make the Switch Week. Sponsored by Bank on MOre (the statewide consumer awareness campaign), the week will feature events to engage and share the credit union message with Missourians. The Bank On MOre social media platforms, like its Facebook and Twitter accounts, will support and ramp up excitement during the week.
