Ozarks Credit Unions, a network of credit unions across southwest Missouri, raised more than $29,477 for Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals of CoxHealth. The funds were raised at the 17th Annual Credit Unions’ Golfing for Kids Benefit Golf Tournament on September 6, 2013, at Rivercut Golf Course.
Representatives from nine credit unions organized the event this year, including America’s, Assemblies of God, BluCurrent, Community Financial, CU Community, Educational Community, Metro, Mid Missouri and TelComm. Federal Protection and Route 66 Extended Warranty were sponsors, and 104 golfers participated in the scramble.
“We are grateful to our area credit unions for raising support for our ‘Miracle Kids,’” said Tim Siebert, executive director of CMN Hospitals at CoxHealth. “The funding will be used to help children suffering from illness and injuries. Our credit unions do an exceptional job making a positive difference in our community.”
Earlier this year, the credit unions were awarded a “Miracle Match” from CO-OP Financial Services. This match program, which is only available to credit unions raising funds for CMN Hospitals, provided an extra $10,000 for donation. CMN Hospitals uses the funds raised at the tournament to assist local sick and injured children who need medical care. The Springfield-area credit unions have raised more than $629,000 over 17 years for CMN Hospitals.
