The Missouri Credit Union Charitable Foundation (MCUCF) will launch into 2014 with a new logo and renewed vigor. With the guidance of its executive director, Maria Langston and its board, MCUCF will strengthen credit unions and their communities by supporting charitable and educational activities.
“The Board and I are looking forward to this new year,” says Langston. “We will be approaching several of the Foundation’s projects with new ideas and plans to ensure it simultaneously supports credit unions and spreads the credit union difference throughout Missouri. Our new logo represents credit unions, their communities and the Missouri Credit Union Association coming together to form MCUCF.”
MCUCF will remain dedicated to the philosophy of people helping people. One of the important components of MCUCF is supporting education initiatives—both for the community and credit union professionals. During the academic school year, MCUCF partners with the Missouri Council on Economic Education (MCEE) to bring financial reality fairs to high schools throughout the state. Credit unions are encouraged to take ownership of these events by volunteering at them and sharing valuable financial information with local teens. MCUCF will also partner with Missouri credit unions to host Youth Savings Month activities as part of financial education month in April.
During the Missouri Credit Union Association’s 2014 Annual Advocacy Meeting a reality fair will be held in the Capitol Rotunda on March 11. This exciting event will provide a unique learning experience for students, while showing legislators the value of credit unions and their community involvement.
Over the past 14 years, MCUCF has funded more than 380 scholarships for credit union professionals in Missouri. These valuable opportunities ensure the development of credit union staffers and the continuation of their education. The deadline to apply for 2014 scholarships is January 10, 2014. Please visit this webpage for more details.
MCUCF will continue to work with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals through the Credit Unions for Kids programs to raise awareness and funds for CMN Hospitals. In addition, MCUCF will participate in CUAid, a program that provides assistance to credit union members affected by natural disasters, such as the tornado that hit the Joplin area.
Stay tuned for exciting MCUCF developments and news. If you have questions about the Foundation, please contact Langston via email.
