The employees of First Community Credit Union (Chesterfield) took a “holiday” from their dress code, while raising money for a local non-profit organization, Nurses for Newborns.
A $10 donation bought credit union staffers several days of wearing jeans. Their efforts resulted in a $2,500 donation to the nonprofit that helps prevent infant mortality, child abuse and neglect through home-based programs that provide education, healthcare and positive parenting skills.
“We’re all about giving back to the communities where we serve our members. This organization really makes a difference in many lives,” says Glenn Barks, president and CEO of First Community.
This promotion wraps up an entire year of giving for First Community. Employees have participated in a different charity dress down day each month as well as other fundraising events.
Between employee contributions and corporate donations, the credit union has given more than $36,000 to various charitable organizations, schools and community events in 2013.
