With the help of member credit unions, the Missouri Credit Union Association (MCUA) is sharing the credit union message in a variety of ways to reach lawmakers and consumers. Below are several examples of MCUA’s continued outreach.
Credit Union “Show-Me Scorecard”
Credit union leaders shared the Credit Union Show-Me Scorecard with Missouri’s federal and state lawmakers during legislative visits at CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) and MCUA's Annual Advocacy Meeting. MCUA created the brochure using survey responses from 53 credit unions across the state. The Show-Me Scorecard highlights how credit unions impact Missouri communities and the overall credit union difference through:
Credit unions are welcome to use the Show-Me Scorecard in outreach efforts with your credit union members and communities, to help reinforce the positive impact your credit union – along with others across the state – is making in people’s lives. Download the brochure here. MCUA also distributed a printed copy of the brochure to all member credit unions on April 8.
MCUA thanks the 53 credit unions that provided information and photos to compile the brochure. MCUA plans to create an updated brochure for use in 2015. Be on the lookout for the Show-Me Scorecard survey request in the coming months!
Credit Union Advocates of Missouri
MCUA hosts a website dedicated to sharing the credit union difference with legislators and consumers. The website hosts a weekly financial tip for consumers and lawmakers, as well as stories of how credit unions have helped both their members and their communities. The weekly financial tip is shared via email with state lawmakers, and credit unions are welcome to use the tips in their publications and social media efforts.
Tell Your Credit Union’s Story
MCUA wants to share your stories with the world! Did you host a financial literacy event? Maybe you have an inspiring member testimonial. If you have any community events, outreach or member stories, please email those to Sharon Bahr.
Additionally, MCUA is compiling data regarding any direct financial benefits (i.e. loan rate savings or interest rates) that credit unions have returned to their members. This information is vital to highlighting the many benefits of credit unions. This can also be sent to Sharon Bahr via email.
