Local students Alyssa Aubuchon and Brianne DiBiase each received a $1,500 scholarship from United Consumers Credit Union (Independence). Both 2014 winners demonstrated exemplary scholastic achievements, as well as civic involvement and strong character.
Ms. Aubuchon is a Blue Springs High School alumna with a background in both athletics and fine arts. Ranked second in her class, Alyssa has been playing the cello since age 5 and competitively swimming since age 7.
Ms. DiBiase hails from Agency, and she has just finished her second year at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Brianne is working toward a degree in accounting and hopes to be a financial analyst after completing college.
This is the fourth year United Consumers Credit Union (UCCU) has awarded scholarships to worthy local students.
“These young members worked hard to accomplish their goals in school as well as in our community, and that effort is something we’re proud to recognize and support,” says Chris McCreary, president of UCCU. To date, UCCU has awarded $12,000 in scholarships.
