Columbia Credit Union helped local children in need with its Rootin’ Tootin’ Chili Cook-off on February 18. The credit union participated in the competition, which raised almost $5,000 for the Boys and Girls Club of Columbia. This charity is one of two that Columbia Credit Union supports. The money raised will benefit children in the local area.
"We feel that since obtaining our community charter in 2009, we want to help support worthy causes in the local area," says David Hendrey, Columbia Credit Union president.
The credit union got creative this year with a pirate ship fundraiser booth, the Black Bean, captained by Captain Jack Habernero. A raffle was also held for a 42" 3D HDTV, a 3D Blue-Ray player and a Coach purse. This is the third year the credit union has participated in the chili cook-off.
