Horizon Credit Union (Macon) held its ground breaking ceremony on October 31 at its future location of 310 North Missouri Street. The credit union has outgrown its current facility but likes the location, so they are building directly across the highway from the existing building. Board Chairman Dennis Fessler and credit union President Kay Lucas welcomed guests and community members to share in the event as the credit union plans to begin their construction project in November. Allan Muncy, city administrator, stated that he was excited to have the new construction project in the Macon community. Talt Holman was introduced as the general contractor. He will start construction during the next few weeks and plans to have the new facility completed in the spring of 2013.
Other board members attending the event were: Larry Murdock, Brent Bernhardt, Murrell Arnett and Damon LaFaver. Credit union staff members attending the event were Geralyn Blomberg, Janell Roth, Sherry Coram, Paula Baase and Maria Rash. Also attending were Representative Tom Shivley, County Commissioner John Dwiggins, Chamber Executive Director Sharon Scott, MSHP Captain Jimmie Wilt, MSHP Lt. Brian Anderson, MoDOT Human Resource Manager Ellen Gehringer, City Council member Jerry Carr and Missouri Credit Union Association Field Representative Kevin Shaw.
