Federal Privacy Notice Bill Introduced in Senate, House Bill Gains Cosponsors

Efforts to eliminate privacy notice mailings when no changes in policies are made are moving forward on Capitol Hill. S. 423, the Privacy Notice Modernization Act, was introduced in the U.S. Senate on February 10. Missouri U.S. Representative Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-District 3) introduced a similar bill in the House in January.

Three Federal Bills Introduced Would Impact Credit Unions

Federal lawmakers have introduced three bills in the U.S. House of Representatives that would impact credit unions .  The bills, introduced between February 14 and 15, deal with member business lending, supplemental capital, and privacy notification requirements.

The new member business lending bill (MBL) is. H.R. 688 and was introduced by U.S. Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA)on February 14 .  It would lift the credit union member business lending cap to 27.5% of assets, from the current 12.25%.

Credit Union Champions Sworn In

Credit union representatives from Missouri were in Washington, D.C.  as Credit Union Champion Ann Wagner (R-District 2) was sworn in for her first term as a member of the U.S. Congress on January 3.  Wagner joins fellow Credit Union Champion, U.S. Rep. William Lacy Clay (D-District 1), on the Missouri delegation, which was reduced by redistricting to eight U.S.
