Missouri Federal Lawmakers Ask CFPB to Delay and Study Remittances Regulation

Four Missouri members of the U.S. Congress signed a letter encouraging the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to delay and study the impact of its proposed remittances regulation, Section 1073 of the Dodd-Frank Act.  There is concern that the final rules as written will drastically curtail the availability of international transfers to consumers.

Akin Reaffirms Credit Union Tax Status Support


Congressman Todd Akin (R-District 2) is reaffirming his support of the credit union tax status. U.S. Representative Akin sent a letter about credit unions to U.S. House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner, U.S. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor and U.S. Rep. Dave Camp, the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee on December 15.

All Missouri credit union leaders are urged to contact their members of Congress – in both the House and the Senate - to make sure lawmakers understand the consumer benefits of raising the credit union member business lending (MBL) cap from 12.25% to 27.5% of total assets.

West Community Shares Lawmaker MBL Support with Members



West Community is notifying members through its website and asking them to contact three Congressmen for support of credit union member business lending (MBL). U.S. Representatives Todd Akin (R-District 2), Russ Carnahan (D-District 3) and William Lacy Clay (D-District 1) have signed on as cosponsors for H.R. 1418, the Small Business Lending Enhancement Act, which would increase the cap on credit union MBL from 12.25 percent to 27.5 percent of assets.
