Members of Congress have taken action on a number of issues affecting credit unions.

Credit Union Bill Moves Out of House Financial Services Committee

The House Financial Services Committee, which includes four members of the Missouri delegation, voted on H.R. 3468, the Credit Union Share Insurance Fund Parity Act, on November 14.  In a voice vote, the committee unanimously approved the credit union bill.

Credit Union Champions Sworn In

Credit union representatives from Missouri were in Washington, D.C.  as Credit Union Champion Ann Wagner (R-District 2) was sworn in for her first term as a member of the U.S. Congress on January 3.  Wagner joins fellow Credit Union Champion, U.S. Rep. William Lacy Clay (D-District 1), on the Missouri delegation, which was reduced by redistricting to eight U.S.

Bankers Spread Misinformation - Visit online today.

All Missouri credit union leaders are urged to contact their members of Congress – in both the House and the Senate - to make sure lawmakers understand the consumer benefits of raising the credit union member business lending (MBL) cap from 12.25% to 27.5% of total assets.

Contact Lawmakers in MBL Call to Action

Members of Congress heard from credit union leaders about the need for regulatory relief – for community banks AND credit unions – during a hearing on H.R. 1697, the Communities First Act. The bill focuses on community bank regulatory relief. It is sponsored by Missouri U.S. Representative Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-District 9), whose family owns a community bank in St. Elizabeth.
