Missourians Making Contact Regarding Credit Union Tax Status

Lawmakers on Capitol Hill are hearing from credit union staff, volunteers and members in Missouri.  Between May 22 and June 17, Missourians in support of credit unions made 3,727 email contacts to Missouri’s U.S. Senators and Representatives regarding concerns about the credit union tax status. Another 50 people made phone calls through the toll-free number.

U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver’s (D-District 5) 9th annual barbeque provided credit unions in the Kansas City area with an in-district meeting opportunity.  Congressman Cleaver is a member of the Financial Services Committee, the primary committee for credit union issues and concerns in the U.S. House.

MCUA Files Letter with the FASB—Credit Loss Proposal Will Hurt Credit Unions

The Missouri Credit Union Association (MCUA) strongly opposes a proposal to change the methodology for recognizing and reporting credit impairment.  In a comment letter filed last week, MCUA urged the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) not to proceed with its proposed accounting standards update.

Horizon Credit Union Talks to State Reps
