Federal Privacy Notice Bill Introduced in Senate, House Bill Gains Cosponsors

Efforts to eliminate privacy notice mailings when no changes in policies are made are moving forward on Capitol Hill. S. 423, the Privacy Notice Modernization Act, was introduced in the U.S. Senate on February 10. Missouri U.S. Representative Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-District 3) introduced a similar bill in the House in January.

Credit union volunteers and leaders from across the state will be attending the Missouri Credit Union Association’s (MCUA) Annual Advocacy Meeting, February 9-10 in Jefferson City.

MCUA encourages credit union advocates to attend this two-day event, as it allows them to share how their credit unions make a difference in Missouri communities and discuss legislation that could impact credit unions and their members.

MCUA Testifies as MMPA Bill Heard in Committee

Testimony on a bill addressing the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act (MMPA) dominated the first Missouri House Banking Committee meeting of the 2015 legislative session. The Missouri Credit Union Association (MCUA) is working in support of the bill, HB 256, which is designed to address a growing number of attempts by plaintiffs’ attorneys to apply the MMPA to exempt financial institutions.
