Missouri Participates in National Hike the Hill

Credit union representatives from Missouri joined hundreds of credit union advocates and small business owners from across the country for National Hike the Hill on November 27-28. The nine representatives made a final in-person grassroots push for the credit union member business lending legislation at Missouri U.S. Senate and House offices.

Action Anticipated on Privacy Notification Act

The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to take action on a bill credit unions are watching closely.  H.R. 5817, the Eliminate Privacy Notice Confusion Act,  is expected to be on the House floor on December 3. 

This bill would eliminate the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act requirement for financial institutions to send out annual privacy notices each year, even if their privacy policies have not changed.  Notifications would be required ONLY when changes to any policy or practice related to the privacy of the member is changed.

Nine Missouri credit union representatives joined more than 500 credit union advocates and small business owners from across the country for National Hike the Hill on November 27-28 to make a final in-person grassroots push the for credit union member business lending legislation.  Missouri participants included two business owners and a credit union lending officer to share the member business lending story.

Credit Unions Invited to Participate in Freshman Legislative Dinner

The Missouri Credit Union Association has been successful in getting  a slot in the schedule as part of the orientation for new legislators in the Missouri General Assembly.  Credit union representatives from across the state are urged to take part in the event and greet these new lawmakers.  There will be approximately 80 legislators attending including freshmen lawmakers for 2013 and sophomores (legislators serving their second term).
