MCUA Employees Donate Blood

On May 24, 2013, three employees of the Missouri Credit Union Association (MCUA) spent their lunch hour donating blood to the American Red Cross. The Red Cross set up a mobile donor center in the parking lot of Electro Savings Credit Union (Maryland Heights, Mo.). The blood drive was held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. during Electro Savings' Annual Member Appreciation Days.

Vantage Launches MyMobile App

This week, Vantage Credit Union (Bridgeton, Mo.) launched its new iPhone mobile banking app, MyMobile, on the Apple Store for its members with MyVantage online banking accounts.

The free online banking app works anywhere, anytime, to quickly and securely check account balances, view transaction history, transfer funds, pay bills, deposit checks via remote deposit and even activate rewards.

Tornado Impacts Oklahoma Credit Unions

When natural disasters strike, it’s hard to think about anything else. Since late Monday night, many Americans have been glued to their screens and searching for more information on the EF5 tornado that blew through Moore, Okla. The two-mile wide tornado decimated homes and businesses—at least 26 credit union employees in the Oklahoma City area may have been affected by severe damage or loss.

Peggy Nalls To Retire from MCUA

Today, the Missouri Credit Union Association (MCUA) announced that Chief Advocacy Officer Peggy Nalls will be retiring effective the end of June. She oversees the state and federal advocacy efforts and regulatory compliance.

“Working at the Missouri Credit Union Association has given me the opportunity to collaborate with the very best people,” said Nalls of her time at MCUA. “I feel so blessed to have worked with so many wonderfully genuine people—credit union members, employees and leaders alike. I have always felt like I was representing the good guys in the white hats.”

Local Youth Wins National Savings Challenge

Looks like we have a young super saver at Electro Savings (St. Louis, Mo.)! Amara, 8, of St. Louis, recently won the National Youth Saving Challenge, which is sponsored by the Credit Union National Association (CUNA).

Amara was automatically entered into the CUNA drawing when she made a deposit. As one of the 10 winners, she received $100 to further build up her savings account.

Every April credit unions stress the importance of educating children and young adults in the matters of finance. As part of April Youth Month, five St. Louis credit unions joined forces to raise money for Children's Miracle Network (CMN). The credit unions included Alliance, Electro Savings, First Community, Southpointe and Vantage.
