United Labor Credit Union Receives National Awards

On Monday, May 13, 2013, United Labor Credit Union (ULCU) held its annual meeting in Gladden Hall of the Visions Building in Kansas City, Mo.

ULCU’s Board of Directors and staff accepted three national awards earned for Adult Financial Education, Credit Union Philosophy-in-Action and Dedication to Social Responsibility within both the credit union and the union labor movement in 2012.

On Tuesday, May 14, the Missouri Credit Union Association (MCUA) recognized the 50th anniversary of Missouri Baptist Credit Union's charter. Mandy Asbury, president of Missouri Baptist Credit Union (Jefferson City, Mo.), accepted the commemorative plaque. It was awarded during the credit union's annual meeting at the Missouri Baptist Convention Building in Jefferson City, Mo.

New St. Joseph Chapter Officers Installed

Last week, the St. Joseph Chapter of Credit Unions installed its officers for 2013-2014. The meeting was held on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 6 p.m. at the Ground Round Restaurant located in St. Joseph, Mo. The guest speaker was John Thomas, Missouri Credit Union Association (MCUA) vice president of Compliance and Advocacy. He gave a presentation on compliance.

Lennox Earns CUDE Designation

We're excited to announce that Tracy Lennox, manager of Northeast Regional Credit Union in Hannibal, completed her Credit Union Development Education (DE) training from the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF). She was one of 40 credit union professionals who became Credit Union Development Educators (CUDE) last week after being guided by eight dedicated program facilitators and mentors.

Credit union volunteers gave North Callaway High School students in Kingdom City a dose of real life with a financial reality fair. Using a program called Mad City Money, volunteers from United Credit Union and other organizations helped teach sound money management on May 9, 2013. United Credit Union is headquartered in Mexico, Mo.

United Credit Union Breaks Ground for Moberly Facility

On Wednesday, May 8, 2013, United Credit Union broke ground for their newest branch location at 1791 East Outer Road (next to Lowe’s behind the Moberly Inn). The land was purchased from Orscheln Properties and the construction project will be managed by L&J Construction out of Moberly. Architectural services are being provided by Steve Nuhn, also of Moberly.

Edwards Accepts Mazuma COO Position

Kansas City-based Mazuma Credit Union recently announced that Deonne Edwards has accepted its chief operations officer position. Edwards will assume responsibility for all operational aspects of Mazuma’s nine-branch office network, as well as the member support division. She brings with her 20 years of financial experience focused on operations management, cross-departmental leadership, business development, community outreach and strategic visioning while developing her career in Nevada, Oregon, and Washington.
