TelComm Celebrates the Season with Giving

During the month of December, TelComm Credit Union (Springfield) participated in multiple "people helping people" activities.  On December 1, many of the staff volunteered to participate in the Salvation Army bell ringing activity to collect money.  On December 12, credit union employees donated blood for the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks.

Credit Union Mergers in Southwest Missouri

The southwest region of Missouri experienced two credit union mergers in 2012. Greater Ozarks Community merged into BluCurrent Credit Union (Springfield) in August. This expands BluCurrent’s network to six branches across southwest Missouri, serving nearly 20,000 members and $140 million in assets.

Alliance: No Power, No Problem

Amid high winds and wintry weather, dozens of businesses - including credit unions - lost power on December 20. Alliance Credit Union lost power around 3:30 p.m., but employees found creative ways to deliver excellent member service despite the loss of electricity. Using the light from a lantern, Vice President of Lending Sean Chambers met with a member who needed a loan funded by 8 a.m. the following morning.

CUAid Update: Donations Still Needed for Sandy Relief

Over a month after Hurricane Sandy struck the East Coast, the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF) is encouraging additional support from the credit union community to continue to assist credit union people affected by the disaster.  Since October 31, NCUF has raised and distributed over $260,000 to credit union employees, volunteers, and members, but there are still numerous applications for assistance remaining.

American Eagle Donates to Local Food Pantry

American Eagle Credit Union (AECU), a division of Anheuser-Busch Employees' Credit Union, recently sponsored a Coffee with the Chief through the Arnold Chamber of Commerce on November 27.  At the event, AECU made a $250 donation to the Arnold Food Pantry, and chamber members were encouraged to bring items to donate.

CSD Holds Bake Sale for Toys for Tots

CSD Credit Union (CSDCU) (Kansas City, MO) staff held a bake sale on December 12, 2012 for their members.  There was a wonderful assortment of holiday baked goods for sale.  The credit union raised almost $80 that was used to purchase gifts to fill their Toys for Tots box.
