It's Not Too Late - Gift Cards Are Still Available

Gift card spending will hit $28.79 billion in 2013 according to the National Retail Federation. A survey conducted by the same agency says that 81% of shoppers will buy at least one gift card this year and the average spent on gift cards is $156.86.

Making gift cards available for purchase through your credit union can make holiday shopping easier on your members as well as increase your credit union's revenue stream. LSC offers several programs that allow credit unions to compete with gift card and reloadable "stored value" debit cards.

STL TweetUp to Spread Holiday Social Media Cheer

MCUA Offices Closed November 28-29

In observance of Thanksgiving, the Missouri Credit Union Association (MCUA) offices will be closed on Thursday, November 28, and Friday, November 29.

iVia Exchange Services will be open during regular business hours, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on November 29. PACE inquiries and support will be available that day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Missouri Corporate Credit Union and Heartland Business Services, LLC will be closed on Thursday, November 28 and open for regular business hours on Friday, November 29.

Reminder: Update A Smarter Choice Records

The Missouri Credit Union Association (MCUA) has recently sent out emails requesting that all credit unions in Missouri verify and/or update their credit union's information on A Smarter Choice's website. A Smarter Choice allows consumers to search a national database of credit unions and locate nearby branches. If these records are inaccurate, credit unions could be missing out on new members.

Realizing this change in the loan application process, TelComm Credit Union (Springfield) recently launched the AskAuto app on November 1, 2013. The app makes it easy for members to research vehicles when car shopping, and it even offers them the opportunity to apply for a car loan while on the go.

Shared Branching: Gen Y Members Want It All

Gen Y is known for their fondness for everything electronic and digital—that means they just need access to online banking and a decent app, right? Wrong. A recent survey uncovered that Gen Y members are much more likely to visit a branch, drive up ATM or phone a call center than any other segment.

Check out the results in the table below. Gen Y respondents of the survey indicated they utilized branches and "offline" services more often than older respondents.
